Low-income genesee county residents can get free birth, death, marraige certificates

County Clerk-Register Domonique Clemons has been given the authority to waive fees for birth, death and marriage certificates for county residents living in poverty.

The county Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution on Wednesday, July 19, establishing a policy that Clemons requested, to allow his office to reduce or waive the $25 vital records fee when shown evidence of financial hardship.

Youth making a difference in county government

Thanks to the Genesee County Youth Commission, one group of youth is now better informed about each of these government systems. The commission was made up of a diverse group of nine youth, one from each county commissioner’s district.

Multiple members of the Flint city council are facing a recall

Language has been approved for four of the nine members, with language pending for two other for a total of six possible recalls. The Genesee County clerk says similar language has been used in all of the approved recalls and it centers around a missed city council meeting.
